Hybreed chairs were selected to show at the Guts for Garters Surreal Women Exhibition at the Cob Gallery, London.
"The first resistance to the male surrealists’ projection of the female figure arose in the writings and paintings of marginalised woman artists and writers associated with Surrealism. Claude Cahun was a woman loathed by Surrealists, who changed her name to be both masculine and Jewish in a time of extreme anti- Semitism. An inspired cross dresser, she is Guts for Garters muse for this theme. The theme is set by distorting expectations and perspective through creating a surreal landscape that will leave you a little unsteady. As ever Guts for Garters will embrace comedy, tease the audience and have plenty of fun".
The Guts for Garters girls, Cassie and Rachel, put on a great show. The opening night was packed with people ... Every so often the guests were indulged with eerie musical interludes and theatrical performances.
